Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

For a long time now I’ve had a Christmas mug sitting in my cupboard with the words “Christmas Cocoa”. Alongside it is a recipe. Ever since I got that mug one Christmas I’ve been telling myself that I have to try out the recipe but we all know how it goes… But last night, snuggled up on the sofa watching Big Brother I decided that I would finally try it out. And let me add, it was sooo good!

Scroll on for the mystery cup’s recipe.

1/2 Cup Sugar

1/4 Cup Baking Cocoa

1/3 Cup Water

4 Cups Milk

1/2 tsp Cinnamon

1/4 tsp Nutmeg

I began by simmering the milk in a saucepan over a low heat (add the cinnamon or cinnamon stick at this point). Then, I added the baking cocoa followed by the rest of the ingredients. Personally, I didn’t add any water as I thought the milk alone was enough, but it probably depends on how strong baking cocoa you use, or if you use normal hot chocolate powder.

I’ve never tried cinnamon in a hot chocolate before but it is literally the best thing ever. Let me know if you try this recipe out or if you have any hot chocolate alternatives that I must try out.
