Every summer I tell myself that I will ‘invest’ in a few simple day dresses – you know the ones you reach to when you’re in a last minute dash or have ‘nothing to wear’. Then every summer I either struggle to find some I really like, or the good weather doesn’t hold up for long enough to bother buying them. This summer though, I have actually shopped far ahead enough of time to not only wear them on several occasions, but apparently even write a blog post on them! Oh, and they’re all also super affordable!
When browsing on Asos, I kept coming across cute dresses from prettylittlething, so thought I’d check out their main website. I was a little doubtful at first as their items seemed too cheap to be even half decent quality, but considering the extra 20% discount they had running, plus their free returns policy, I figured I had nothing to lose. My most recent fashion obsession has been t-shirt dresses; they’re so comfy and underrated! So, when this super summery number popped up on their site, I knew I just had to buy it. I love how this dress screams summer, and that the frilly sleeves adds something extra to the simple shape of a t-shirt dress.
This next dress is from Mango and is of course another t-shirt style dress. It also comes in stripes, which I was so tempted to buy considering my unhealthy obsession with the pattern, but I instead went with this 60s flower print which I equally love.
Okay, so I didn’t quite refrain from buying more stripes… This maxi dress is originally from Bershka but bought on Asos during the 20% off sale they recently had running. It features a split on the left leg which cuts off just below the thigh, and a cross-over tie detail on the back. The white bardot dress is originally from Boohoo but also bought on Asos during the promotion. I love how you can really dress this up or down – pair it with wedges, a clutch and curled hair for a day date, or slip on some sandals with a messy bun for a trip into town.
This final dress is definitely more on the casual side, but my work has no dress code so it’s a win-win (although I think my office would draw a line at the cap). I bought this in River Island and wore it for the first time yesterday to an all day outing – never felt so relaxed!
